Leadership: REV. Dr. RAYMOND E. MAYES PASTOR
NICHOLS TEMPLE A.M.E. CHURCH BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA
Raymond E. Mayes is an ordained itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and a certified project manager. He is also the CEO and Executive Director of NAME Ministries, Inc., a tax-exempt organization. He earned a Doctor of Business Administration in Project Management from Capella University, a Master of Divinity from Turner Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Benedict College. Rev. Dr. Mayes holds the designation of Certified Project Manager Professional.
Mayes is the appointed pastor of Nichols Temple AME Church in Birmingham, Alabama. His vision of encouraging worship services and competent administration has resulted in growing churches. He has developed a comprehensive youth ministry incorporating diverse spiritual, emotional, educational, and social-cultural experiences. He was responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing programs to promote Christian education among youth congregants. He served as the Youth Minister at Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta, Georgia, under the Rev. Dr. James L. Davis (Bishop) and the Rev. Dr. Gregory V. Eason (Bishop).
Mayes's specialty lies in designing strategic project plans, process improvement, and business modeling and development for financial technology companies. He is also an adjunct professor who teaches project management at American Intercontinental University. He was a program manager assistant at the Department of Treasury. Additionally, Mayes served as the Director of Global Workforce and Community Service for Morris Brown College, an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life specializing in deferred compensations, a Senior Research Analyst for Metters’ Industries, and a congressional aide for Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts and Senator Ernest Hollings of South Carolina.
With over ten years of experience in leadership roles as a Senior Financial Operations Analyst and Certified Project Manager, he has driven business growth through innovation, marketing strategies, and enhanced customer experiences while leveraging skills in financial operations and project management to achieve strategic alignment.
